A great day or night at the AC shore always included a stop at the world famous Steel Pier. For less than two bucks you could catch 4 different movies, dance to live music in the Ocean Ballroom, take a dive in the deep, dark Atlantic inside the diving bell, go on amusement rides, play games of chance or go out back to catch the Water Circus featuring clowns, acrobats and the Diving Horse. Outside of Ed Hurst and Tony Grant, other famous names on the pier included the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Monkeys, Bobby Rydell, Pat Boone, Eddie Fisher, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington and just about anybody who was somebody in entertainment. We'll never see the likes or entertainment value of Steel Pier again. What a time it was!
